And I Said to Myself, What a Wonderful World

My whole life, my whole soul, my whole spirit is to blow that horn.

Satchmo would have understood Ese’s focus on “obsession” for this week’s challenge. That one quote of his says it all.

As for my obsession with great blue herons, when my favorite local boathouse closes for the season, I simply move on to the river, the Charles River. The photo in this post was taken during my first kayak outing there, and it’s one of my favorites photos of the great blue herons that ply the Charles.

  1. Ironic, I was walking in the woods in the Shenandoah Valley this past weekend – sky blue, air crisp, leaves of yellow and red, watching the Chickadees and Nuthatches flit about, singing that very song of Louis Armstrong. Love the photo. I live in a community along the South River in Maryland, and love to sit and watch the Great Blues hunt ever so patiently.

  2. Beautiful photo, Babsje. I’ve always loved the words of this song. 🙂

  3. it truly is a wonderful life….and thank you for sharing it with all of us! 😉

  4. AHHhhhh .. Louis singing that jazzy bluezy melody to bring our wonderful world spirits up high. He was from Queens, New York but he would have loved the strong presence of that heron.

  5. There is so much beauty in the quote and as much beauty in your photo. I enjoyed to be taken along on your journey! 🙂
